“Jazz is like wine. When it is new, it is only for the experts, but when it gets older, everybody wants it.” –Steve Lacy
Jazz and wine—this pairing just seems to go together naturally. Take a sip of a big, bold red, a delicate dessert wine, or a fruity white wine, and relax to the toe-tapping rhythms of a live jazz performance. There’s a reason that this pairing has inspired so many festivals and events, one of which is coming up soon near the Iris Inn Bed & Breakfast:
June 28, 2014 will bring about the Annual Shenandoah Valley Wine (and Beer!) & Jazz Festival at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton, Virginia. (For those who have never been there, the Frontier Culture Museum recreates the homes and lifestyles of individuals from 17th, 18th, and 19th Century England, Germany, Ireland, West Africa, and America. Observers have the privilege of taking a walking tour through these villages and experiencing the daily lives of these hardworking individuals.
As you can guess from the name of the Wine & Jazz Festival, activities will include everything from live jazz performances to wine and beer tastings. Sample local libations, take in entertainment presented by Blue Moon and Blue Ridge Beverage, and sample the wares from a number of different available food vendors. Your festival ticket also includes a souvenir wine glass and a tour of the Frontier Culture Museum.
